The Wild Sky backpackers lodge is situated at the foot of Bulwer mountain.  It is rustic and cosy, with a unique, warm atmosphere.   The log cabins were built by Hans.backpackers lodge The main log building includes a fully equipped kitchen, lounge and fireplace.  Upstairs in the lodge are three rooms with  ten beds in total. The two small cabins, seperate from the main building, use the shared ablutions. The en-suite cabin has two rooms, one double and one with two single beds,  with an adjoining bathroom.  It also has a small fridge. Blankets are provided on all beds.  There are a fair amount of spare blankets as it can get fairly cold here during summer and winter.  Always come to Bulwer armed with warm clothing even in mid summer.  We are in the mountains and at 1600 m elevation above sea level. The views from the lodge are spectacular.  The sunrise in the valley in the East should not Cloud saturday evening001be missed.  The sky is big here and we see fantastic cloud formations and colours. There are a lot of things to do and see in and around Bulwer.  The beautiful Marutswa forest is just outside town and well worth a visit.   Amongst a wide range of bird life to be found in the forest are the Cape Parrot, Bush Black Cap,  and Orange Ground Thrush. Shopping: The closest decent grocery shop is 35km away in Underberg, the Spar, the Underberg butchery sells decent meat.  There are FNB and Standardbank ATMs in Bulwer.  The closest banks are in Underberg.  There is a Build it, garage, bottle store in Bulwer and street vendors that sell fruit and veg.   Review us on TripAdvisor
