Paragliding last week

We had a challenging but fantastic week last week with ten students on the introductory paragliding course.  Their last paragliding day was on Friday 22 July and it turned out to be the best day of the week.  All had wonderful flights and they all did really well.  One of the students, Kgomotso, did well on the slopes but as soon as we went higher up she could not handle the height.  Hans took her for a paragliding tandem flight and she loved it.

Paragliding 16 to 19 June

We had great flying this last weekend.  Each day was different but some thermic flying as well as valley release (smooth afternoon ridge soaring) .   Two of our paragliding basic license course students completed their practical requirements, reaching 35 flights and many more hours than the minimum of 4 hours required for the license. moon1

Paragliding this weekend

We had some great paragliding this weekend.  Saturday and Sunday were both soarable with low cloud.  On Saturday cloud base was around 400m above take off.  On Sunday it was much lower sitting halfway up the peaks at 150m above take off.  Students Morgan Mark and Brandon, currently on paragliding courses with us, logged many flights.   fb6 fb8

Paramotoring this morning

The launches this morning at the top of the landing field were effortless.  A nice still morning at Bulwer.

Paragliding this weekend

It was light today with a thermals over the landing field. Hans made it to 360m above takeoff.  Not quite like last Sunday with epic convergence flying with 7m/s climbs and averaging 4.2m/s.

Snow on Bulwer mountain

There is a cold front passing through today we've had some icy rain and the front has left a sprinkling of snow on the peaks of Bulwer mountain.  According to the forecast it will clear up tonight.   It looks ok for paragliding for the next few days. Bulwer 30April 2016

Paragliding today at Bulwer

In Bulwer today the wind was light East with a beautiful valley release. We felt like some exercise and a nice paragliding flight so we walked up with our dogs and took off at rescue rocks, then worked the ridge lift to get up from there. So lekker. Also much less time to walk than drive up. Ria1Ria2
